Yoga is for EveryBODY. You don’t need to be flexible or super fit. If you feel nervous or apprehensive about trying yoga for the first time don’t worry, you are not alone...every yogi and yogini felt the same way when they started out. The many benefits of yoga are worth taking time to get on your mat. Yoga supports overall health and wellness, promotes mental clarity and provides a foundation to make healthy choices.
We provide yoga mats and props at no charge, but suggest you bring:
* Drinking water
* A towel if you plan on showering after your practice - we have shower facilities in the change rooms.
Whatever you feel comfortable with! You will be stretching and moving so clothing should be light and un-restrictive. You will likely sweat, so consider bringing a change of clothing for after your practice.
Yoga is best practiced with bare feet.
Come to class on a somewhat empty stomach. Arrive well hydrated and avoid carbonated and caffeinated drinks. Best not to eat any heavy meals 2 - 3 hours before practicing.
Hatha Beginners, Hatha Gentle, Hatha All Levels, and Breathe and Stretch would be most suitable for those new to yoga as they will cover many of the basic postures and place an emphasis on proper yogic breathing (the key to developing your yoga practice!).
If you are relatively fit and stretching is already part of your workout routine and you are looking for something dynamic and challenging, we would still suggest starting off with these classes to get a feel for the postures, structure, and flow of a class. This will greatly assist the transition to the more challenging classes.
If you have any injuries or specific conditions, please let your instructor know and don’t let this discourage you! Yoga is wonderfully therapeutic and offers numerous modifications to work around almost any limitation.
Regardless of your fitness level our staff and teachers would be more than pleased to discuss your objectives and concerns and suggest some suitable options. Feel free to call or email us with your questions or better yet drop by to have a quick chat with our staff - the centre is typically open 15 minutes before scheduled morning classes and weekday evenings from 4-8pm
Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of class.
